Heather Porreca Announcement for Mayor of Attleboro 2019
It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I announce my candidacy for Mayor of the City of Attleboro.
I appreciate the patience and support that has been shown to me and my family over the last few months as I have contemplated and researched this tremendous undertaking. As always, my Husband and my children are 100% supportive of this decision and it is with their blessing that I take this next step in my continued dedication to our City.
Attleboro residents and those who are employed here expect and deserve a strong, fair and decisive leader who is thoughtful to the needs of the City as a whole. There are so many good things happening in our City. We are weeks away from groundbreaking for the new High School, the continued acquisition of open space including Highland Country Club and the impending establishment of Medical and Adult use Marijuana shops. Along with these great endeavors comes even greater responsibility. Collectively we need to plan and prioritize for the everyday struggles that our municipality faces. Crumbling infrastructure, safe drinking water, the condition of our roads, snow removal, trash and recycling, funding for capital improvements, keeping our promise to our retirees, guaranteeing funding for the educations of all of our students, ensuring that our departments have the proper staffing, tools, training and equipment to fortify the City’s commitment to providing services to our residents.
As your Mayor, I will bring vision, motivation, creativity, the ability to listen, fostering and inspiring teamwork are crucial skills that motivate all to achieve excellence in the management of the the day to day workings of a community. My tenure as At Large City Councilor, and the past year as Council Vice President, I have had the opportunity to grow and develop my leadership skills. As a result I have been able to foster strong working relationships with City department heads, local businesses, non-profit organizations, and most importantly, you, the residents of Attleboro. While I spend every day focused on our city I have been fortunate to create respectful and productive relationships with our State and Federal delegates, and by doing so, ensures that their focus is on Attleboro as well.
I am committed to continue working tirelessly for Attleboro. It is my intent to ensure our legacy of prosperity and to inspire others to do the same. It is my goal to make Attleboro the premiere City for people to live, work, educate and raise families. With that, I hope to have your support and your vote in November.
